Could Apple Turn Siri Into a ChatGPT-Like Chatbot?
According to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple’s long-anticipated Siri upgrade could transform the digital assistant into a chatbot experience similar to ChatGPT.

Sources familiar with the matter say the revamped Siri, expected to be integrated into iOS 27, may take center stage at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June.
The new chatbot version of Siri, internally codenamed “Campos,” is said to support both voice and text interactions, allowing for more natural and conversational use.
Previously, Apple’s Senior Vice President Craig Federighi had stated that he did not want Siri to function as a traditional chatbot. Instead, he emphasized that Apple’s AI features should be seamlessly integrated—available exactly when users need them, without feeling like a separate tool.
However, that strategy appears to be evolving. Growing pressure from the rapid success of AI chatbots developed by other tech companies has reportedly pushed Apple to rethink its approach.
It’s no secret that Apple has lagged behind in the AI race. The company delayed the rollout of a more personalized Siri multiple times and, last year, began exploring partnerships to strengthen its AI capabilities. During this period, Apple tested technologies from competitors such as OpenAI and Anthropic while evaluating potential collaborations.
Ultimately, Apple selected Google’s Gemini as its AI partner—a move that both tech giants officially confirmed earlier this month.
If the reports are accurate, Apple’s upcoming Siri overhaul could mark a significant shift in the company’s AI strategy and signal a more competitive stance in the rapidly evolving artificial intelligence landscape.
