The Blonde Bombshell’s Shocking Transformation: Where is Bo Derek Now
What percentage of you recall Bo Derek? She has always been a favorite of mine, and I was even more in awe of this incredible woman after learning about her recent endeavors.
When I first saw Bo Derek in her major motion picture in 1979, 10, it was difficult to ignore the stunning young blonde with brilliant blue eyes.
But what took place following her well-known Hollywood period?
Bo Derek was raised in California and was born Mary Cathleen Collins. Her mother worked for Swedish-American actress Ann-Margret, therefore she was exposed to the entertainment industry from a young age.
Bo was able to secure representation at the age of sixteen because to her mother’s connections. She was able to get her first movie role in Once Upon a Love thanks to this.
The stunning Greek island of Mykonos served as the backdrop for the film. Bo met John Derek, her future husband, when they were filming. They started dating soon after falling in love. Bo was only 17 years old and John was 47 at the time.
A scandal might have resulted from the age gap alone, but John Derek’s continued marriage to actress Linda Evans presented additional challenges.
John and his actress wife got divorced not long after he met Bo.
“I was somewhat to blame for some severe suffering Linda Evans experienced. She had been really polite and considerate. Oddly enough, I only saw her yesterday. We were at a charity jewelry trunk exhibition. She remained equally amazing and delightful as before. Being around her makes me feel awful all the time. Years later, it’s still embedded,” Bo said in an interview with Interview Magazine.
Bo was a minor at the time, therefore John might have been arrested in the US. So, in order to get around California’s age of consent rules, they traveled for a while in Europe and Mexico. Later, in 1976, they were married in Las Vegas. Bo was nineteen, and JohnFollowing their nuptials, Bo’s career truly took off. She was cast by John in his films, and he frequently used her in intriguing settings and stances to generate attention in his indie productions. Bo rose to fame as one of Hollywood’s most gorgeous actors in the film 10. She debuted in the movie as well, with her signature blonde braids styled like cornrows.
“I’m blonde, everything was fluffy, and it was the end of the 1970s,” the woman said. How are you going to change the way you look? John, who is an excellent photographer, had always believed that would be a nice appearance for me. And we gave it a shot. “Why don’t you take these pictures into Blake and see if he’ll go?” he asked.
Bo Derek appeared in a number of her husband’s films following the success of 10, such as Tarzan, The Ape Man (1981), Bolero (1984), and Ghosts Can’t Do It (1990). These films, though, were not well-reviewed. Following that, Bo had appearances in a number of TV series, such as Lucky, 7th Heaven, and Queen of Swords.
Bo has been active in politics since the turn of the twenty-first century, and she supported George W. Bush and the Republican Party in the 2000 and 2004 election campaigns. She did, however, vote for Barack Obama and now claims she does not support any political party.
Horses are one of her greatest loves, particularly the Portuguese Lusitano breed. Riding Lessons: Everything That Matters in Life I Learned from Horses is the title of her memoirs.
Bo also participated in horse breeding on her ranch for a period. She has been a steadfast supporter of animal welfare and has demanded that horse slaughter cease.
Furthermore, Bo provides assistance and support to veterans of the war effort as the honorary head of the VA’s National Rehabilitation Special Events.
Veterans can recover their bodies and spirits by participating in the VA’s National Rehabilitation Special Events. The purpose of this program is to raise their level of independence and well-being. Speaking to the Office of Public and Intergovernmental Affairs, Bo Derek stated.
“Serving as the honorary chair of such a worthy cause for America’s veterans again makes me feel incredibly honored and touched.”
Paul Collins, Bo Derek’s father, served as a radio operator in the Korean War, and her late husband John and stepfather were all warriors. Bo, 63, has been a widow since 1998. He is currently seeing John Corbett, 59, an actor most recognized for his part in “Sex and the City.”
“We like to laugh together and spend time together.” We still hold hands and get together for picnics with friends a few times a week, even after fifteen years, according to Bo.
Thanks to Hollywood agent Norby Walters, who arranged for them to go on a date at his customary Oscars party, the couple first became together in 2002.
“When I told him I wasn’t dating anyone, he said, ‘I’ll get you a date, Corbett!’” Thus, he introduced me to Bo,” Corbett said in a 2015 interview with TODAY.
The pair made some great news announcements in August 2021. In a secret ceremony, Bo and Corbett exchanged vows after over two decades of dating.
“We’re not really public people. We didn’t release a major statement. Although our friends and family were all aware of it, this is the first time we’ve discussed it in public. “You’re my friend, so I guess I’m telling America, or the world,” Corbett remarked in a video chat with CBS.
Bo Derek is currently happily married, has two kids, and resides in California with her brother-in-law, sister, and husband.
She no longer stars in blockbuster films and doesn’t spend as much time in the spotlight, yet she is still a timeless icon.
